My A22 had a Z5 on the boat when I bought it plus 4 Rev10s. My issue with the Z5 is I don't really like how it sits under the speakers making even less headroom plus I wish it was more versatile and would roll up or collapse so you can get sun when you want it. All these gripes are pointing me to trade for a stock Axis Bimini but would I be regretting my decision?

I've had z5's on most of my boats and love it. IMO opinion Axis standard bimini is hideous and looks cheap. I had my straps re-sewn to better accommodate only surfboards. I'm 6'00" and have no complaints about headroom. If the angle the Z5 sits bothers you, you can order different length struts to adjust if you can't adjust with the standard struts. I Lao have Rev410's as well and had the standard bimini on my A22 with Z5 on my A24 now

Well if you decide that is the route you want to take...I would be glad to trade ya! My stock Bimini is in excellent condition.

Do you have any pictures of what you did?

I love my Z5. I have the Rev410's as well. Plenty of head room for me. Just need to be a little careful when you go between the cabin and bow. The Z5 looks 1000 times better IMO. When I want to get some sun, the front and back of the boat is always sunny! My only complain is I need to take the tower down to store my boat every time. I have it down to a science now without any help so not much of a complain anymore.

On the oil rig at the moment but will get pics when I can. With the Z5 on the Axis and tower speakers with large pods/enclosures, in my case Rev410's, the speakers and the racks on top of the Z5 are too close together in that when you tilt the Z5 down and strap your surfboard in, when you lift the Z5 back into storage position your fins and board hit the bottom of the Rev410 pod. So...to remedy this, the surfboard needs to be positioned more forward in the racks, however, the racks are designed to hold either 3 wakeboards or 2 surfboards. Here lies the issue, the 3 sewn in bungees on the front rack are too close together to slide the surfboard far enough to clear the Rev410 pod without over stretching and ripping the sewn bungee. Since I never store wakeboards on the Z5 I had a guy who has a commercial sewing machine unstitch the bungees and re-sew them wider on the rack. Took him about 30 min to do at my storage unit in his trailer (he travels to furniture stores for upholstery repairs). Now my surfboards slide much further onto the racks of the Z5 and I can hinge it into place.

I can't comment on the Z5 because I've never been in a boat with one but I love my stock axis Bimini, it's 3 minutes up and down which is real convenient since my tower has to collapse to get in the garage, it'd be a pain for me to have a Z5

Agree, if I had to fold the tower, I'd bite the bullet and go with stock. Fortunately my storage has 14' doors.
