So I just got my new a20 with pnp(950lbs bow arrow and 400lbs rear), auto set wedge, surf gate... I took the boat out this weekend and I could not figure out how to surf. I tried multiple different speeds and different ways of weighting the boat. I wasn't sure if I should have all the ballasts full and wedge down, or have some half empty. And I also wasn't sure what the speed should be. Any thoughts??

Did you have the surfgate switch to the side you were riding? Here is the deal, slam your boat. Make sure you have a good amount of bow weight and the boat is equally weighted in the rear...or close to it if you are running that much rear weight. Then set the speed to 10.8 on the cruise. Adjust to how you seem fit. Play around and dial your speed in. Profit???

With the A20 I would fill all your ballast and drop the wedge. You may need additional weight with only having the 400s in the rear.

Should go 600 Sumo sacks in the rear at MINIMUM, then the bow sack, and wedge down. You might want an large extra sack on the floor if you only go out with 3-4 people. If you have 5-6 people then that's additional ballast. Surfgate likes weight so don't be afraid to experiment, especially moving the weight around front to back some, wedge down, wedge up...it all effects the wave.

put two 300lb dudes on the engine compartment to simulate larger rear sacks. And then stick another 300lbs dude in the nose or center right next to the driver. Tell us how that helps.

Note ** You can substitute 3 - 100lb ladies per 1 - 300lb dude. all depending on your availability of friends.

No offense but that wave is pretty bad (washy) for surf gate. Keep playing with it, the A20 can have a very clean nice wave.
