I am looking to purchase some ballast bags soon for the pnp on my '14 model. I was wondering what most of the crew on here recommends. I have trolled through some threads on here and it seems like straight line sumo sacks are recommended by some. Does anyone have experience with both fly high and straight line?

I know some on here have experience with both, there was a thread on here awhile back on the comparison. From what I remember the reviews saying, sumos are supposed to be a slightly better fit and you can actually get more weight in them. But I also remember their bags having issues with leaking or not attaching correctly to the PnP hoses. I'm sure all of that has been addressed though. I still think most run the fly high setup. I use fly high on mine, 750s and front arrow bag, and it's a solid setup with plenty of weight. When I'm heavy in the rear I put another bag up front on top of the seats, but you would want to do that with both the fly high or sumo front arrow bag.

I installed fly highs in our tige and was pretty happy with them. I haven't seen many bags in the Axis lockers but my dealer is pushing the fly high 750s or the new ronix 800s that will be coming out. He warned us about the 1100s and the problems that can come with them. The pressure they put on the motor walls and they don't fill all the way. Sorry I don't have any experience with the sumo sacs

Thanks. I read that thread. It is the prop thread in the gear section. I havent seen much discussion on the bags since Axis got the larger ballast hoses on the '13s and '14s. I plan on going with either the 900 sumo or the 1100 fly high.

Ya that's the thread. Apparently the sumo bags are true 1" i.d. ports so people were saying fill and drain times were a little faster. I honestly don't know though so let others chime in. Still, no complaints out of the fly highs from me, they fill and drain really fast with the 1" hoses. Good call going with the larger rear bags too, the surf wave will thank you.

I like my Sumo's. You just need to glue the fittings in.

I think I may just go with the Fly High bags. I have experience installing them with the quick connect fittings.

I have been reading and wondering the same thing. I think I will be getting the Sumo 900's and bow bag for my '13 before spring. My boat is put away for the winter and will not be out until late April.

For you all that are running the 750+ rear bags... do you all have the 335 and how hard do you think it is on the motor... or do you have the big motor?

I cannot endorse the sumos I have them in my 13 and have had issues all summer with the fittings pulling out of the bags and dumping the bags into my bilge. They have been glued in and still pull out. I was told by my dealer that they are working with straight line to fix the situation. Honestly after putting 110 hours on my boat this past summer I'm tired of dealing with it. Others experience may differ and I hope so.
