and what size board is good for them?

only curious because next summer my little one will be 3. may be to young. but she is coming up in age in the next couple of years. and by then ill have another child as well.

any advice is welcome.

I would say depends on the child. They should be able to write them-self, or very least tread water with the board behind them. My 4YO is a strong swimmer, but not there yet with a board on his feet.

I think it does depend on the kid. I have seen some 5-6 year old kids that really take to boarding fast.

When they are really young and weigh next to nothing.. I suggest..

putting a board on them and just pull them up while you are sitting in a cove or a place where there are no waves. You should be able to pull them up and they can board all the way back to the boat. That will keep them from getting nervous being out in the lake all alone. Others have just pulled them by the shore to they can get a feel for being up on top of the water.

My boy turned three in may and started asking to ride with me last season. We wanted him to feel comfortable in the water so I started him riding with me. I would purposely fall so he understood he would be okay and the boat would come back and pick us up.

He got to a comfort level where he now asks to ride the u-ski. A couple months ago we started him from the beach on the ski and now he can start from the swim step. He fell for the first time last week and he was very comfortable in the water and was laughing - (crazy to see his little head in the middle of the lake). I don't think he would have been this comfortable if we did not work him up to it. He will probably be board of the ski this season and we will get him a wake board next.

elc has the correct idea, start them slow, both of my kids started before they were 5. Although they both loved all of the boards, ski, wakeboard, surf, and keeboard, the kneeboard was the easiest to get them used to being pulled because they can start on the board before you even start pulling them and you can start real slow. Enjoy, it will be a blur, they grow up way to fast.

new to the board... glad to meet ya all!
I had my son on my board from a dock start at the age of 3. they learned to ski on the tied togethers and skim board at ages 6 and 4 (my daughter was 4). then they got scared of the lake for a few years (as did I at that age). so no pressure and no arguing.... low and behold at 11 and 8 they both decided to wakeboard this year and got up no issues. my son will go for 2 to 3 sets a day while at the lake.

I figure the less pressure you put on em the more they will love it in the long run.
