Looking at making an upgrade for a new board. Been riding an old hyperlite state 140. Like to stick with hyperlite but something in the intermediate class. Any suggestions?

I'm curious on this too, I ride a '11 state 145 with no fins and would like something a little better.

I would go Franchise or Webb. I ride Marek but it may be more than you want. I'm not a pro and I love my Marek.

I went from a State 140 to a '13 Murray 142. It's definitely a nice step up.

A 142 wasn't too big for you? I'm about 175lbs

I ride 12 Murray I don't think you will notice much difference between a pro board and a intermediate board so I would just go with the pro. the only diff I noticed when switching to new Murray is that in the neutral position its supper easy to break fins loose, but on edge the fins really grab. at first it felt odd but I like it now its more forgiving when a trick comes in a little sketch on the landings

I'm about 195lbs and would even go bigger, but the 142 seems to be pretty much perfect. The 140 was definitely on the smaller side for me. What amsugg said is dead on, you can easily break it loose but when you edge out the board really holds. It has really nice pop too.

Walter, I rode my State finless too and the Murray keeps me a lot more confident out on the water. I felt unstable at times on the State.

What year is yours? I'm about 240lbs and I love the way it rides just wish it would let me surface switch easier, I really couldn't tell the difference one bit when I took the fins off mine, it holds an edge too well, I probably just need to nut up and ride faster like when my speedo was off
