I have problem with my Sony radio cutting out at high volumes. The radio stays on but no sound plays through any speakers amps stay on as well. I thought it was the amps getting hot but they where not hot. I turn radio up over 40 and it cuts off then if I power radio off then back on speakers will start playing again. This is my second radio in boat first one just stopped playing all together and dealer replaced it for me. Anyone out there had any problems with there's if so how did you fix it??

radio could be clipping. i would check the wire harness first off to make sure none of those high level speaker outputs are touching anything. I am a installer. to diagnose this kind of proplem i need a bit more info. when its doing it, what were you doing ect.

Well I was pulling a wakeboarder and they told me to turn up tunes and I went above 40 on volume and it would cut out most of the time it would do it after radio had been on for 15 to 20 min I checked amps they where still on and it's only the speaker hook to alpine 5 channel that runs speakers in boat and the sub. I turned sub down on radio and it still would do it. Does that help a little I would greatly appreciate some help with this problem

I'm not familiar with the newer amps but you may try lowering the gains a little, it may be going into protect mode, I do know that on my Sony hu, which should be the same, the output signal would start to clip at 47, If your gains are too high the newer amps may be able to detect distortion and shut down, the best way that I know to check would be to ohm out each channel and see if all the speakers are still in good shape, then adjust everything with an oscilloscope.

I am going to be putting a sundown comp 15" sub in a custom box under driver Cockpit. My bother-in-law who owns a car audio shop is supposed to do all the work on my boat this winter when he finds the time so I am sure he will be able to fix any problems

You have an mrp 500 powering what? I just googled that number and all I could find was a mono amp, that won't work well if your tower and sub are on that one amp
