So we have a A22 with the wedge. The dealer has two bolts installed in the lower holes so the wedge never locks in the down position. The dealer told me it actually may rise a little when manunvering at slow speed at a full turn, like while you approach your skier, I notice with the wedge down, it is tough to make extremely tight turns while "slow no wake". Right now, I don't see much gain in the wake with wedge down vs. wedge up.

My question has anyone converted their manual wedge to a power wedge like the big brother Malibu? I only ask because all of Malibu's informational videos pertaining to the wedge indicate that you can shape or better control your surfing wake with different positions of the wedge, the higher it is from all the way down the larger the wake should be.

0% being fully retracted and
100% being fully down, I would think that 50% would make a substantial difference from 100%. I realize that you pay twice the price for a Malibu, with the "power" feature anyone here make any attempts to capture this feature?
I don't want the "auto wedge" feature just the ability to adjust the wedge while under tow.

Take a look at this video at 13mins.

FUNNY - On the malibu site the requests I see more often are to go from power to floating. The hydraulics can break and expensive to repair. Also the power and locking wedge can cause tremendous hull damage if you hit something.

The bolts are there to stop the wedge from going any lower, hence giving the correct amount of downforce that it was designed for. If it went any lower it wouldn't provide enough downward pull to be noticeable due to being parallel to the hull surface, if it were to go higher it may put out too much downforce and then compromise the structural integrity of the transom, trust me the floating wedge on the axis is perfect, it does what it was meant for and nothing more, 1000 LB of downforce should be more than enough, everyone with a power wedge will eventually wish they had the floating one after the hydraulics fail and repair bills add up, just like the Malibu rep in the video said, kiss......keep it simple stupid, I rarely use my wedge but when I do, I know it's there.

Makes sense, keeping it simple. I will have to do some more trials between wedge and no wedge. Thanks for the info. Wouldn't have figured the actuators to be giving people trouble.

I don't know how many hours you have on your boat but the more seat time you get and the more time you spend playing with the speed control and ballast and wedge the easier it will be for you to feel the changes of any little thing, I just rolled 115 hours on mine and I can feel every little change that happens with the boat.

Yup, I can put the throttle down when I pull a rider and literally within less than 1-1000 count I'll pull back to idle and tell them to pull the wedge back up (if we just switched riders that don't want the wedge).
