Unfortunately work has kept me off the water for a couple weeks. So I'd like to dial in my stereo while I've got the down time. I have the stock 6 mtx in-boats, a pair of rev-8's, and a 12" alpine type R in the drivers foot well. All of this runs through a Wetsounds WS-420. I'm not entirely sure where to start with this. I'm just starting to search the forums for stuff, but if you guys have advice or know of some good threads let me know.

Im having trouble with this as well. I am usually very good at tuning car audio but i will play with my boat i can get it to sound good at home but it ends up being terrible on the water. This could be because of mt te404 not working properly so im just gunna leave it until the new one gets here.

Have you looked on the Wetsounds site? They have a tuning portion for the ws420. This will work for normal tuning too, minus the 420.

The max on my Sony HU is 40 and I tune each amp separate. Start with cabins and make sure you don't have any eq adjustments on the HU (bass, treble, mid...all flat). Anytime you hear the speaker clipping- you know you have the gain too high. (I start out with gain at 9 o'clock position and at the end it's between 9-11 oclock position) Make sure frequency on amps is set for what you're running the amp on. HP for towers/cabins, LP for sub.

The only time I make any adjustments to the HU eq is when we're at cove and I'll bump sub bass level up +5.

Does anyone else have a problem with subs in the kick panel rattling the gauges like crazy?

I just want my sub in the kick panel!! But 360 to get that custom box and shipped to Oregon!

I will probably have a sub with the box for sale in the fall. Gonna go with different sub and use these plans.

For those with rattle problems, have you pushed a towel between dash and window (where they meet in front)? This was the source of most of my rattles. If you find it, just use some dark weatherstripping to fill the void and fix the rattle.

nasty are you going to fab that box and fit it under the drivers side or just stick it in the stereo locker?

I'm going to build it and then figure out a way to make a faceplate for it. I'm probably going with the new Wetsounds XXX when it comes out.

If you stick it in the port locker- you won't be able to hear it unless the cushion is flipped up. Driver side is the way to go-

Today I installed a TMA 500w RMS mono amp for my sub and it made quite a difference. I then took my TE604 and ran the left tower speakers bridged off of the front channels and the Right one bridged off of the rear channels. It made a world of difference in volume output of the stock MTX tower speakers. Now I just need to figure out something for the cabin speakers and make a drivers side sub box and I should be set.
