The geography here is lots of coves and that where the flat water hides. Taking a boarder deep into a cove necessitates a tight turn...I have tried to track down the engine "misfire" culprit in the fuel delivery and ignition, but I am convinced the engine skip ONLY happens when the cruise is engaged. I was REALLY hoping that the new tach would fix this too - nope. I had a guest driver the other day say that his perfect pass behaves exactly the same way. Anyone else have this engine stutter in tighter corners with a ride in tow?

What motor? I have the 335 heavily loaded and ride in an area that also requires tight turns. I have never experienced those symptoms, whether the cruise was on or off.
Have you tried to drive a rider by hand and see if it does it when the cruise is off? You say your convinced that its only when cruise is engaged, but have you tested it out, with same ballast, same cove(s), same speed, and a rider in tow all without the cruise control?

Yes, some more back ground - 2010, 335hp, Hi altitude prop. Over the summer I pinpointed it down the cruise. 4 riders all the same route and boat setup and all between 21-24mph. The 1st was sort of by accident - the old tach/cruise would not engage occasionally. I drove the loop with no cruise and no engine hesitation. For the 2nd I fixed the old cruise (engine off and back on), and engine hesitation happened. And by hesitation, I mean it sounds like a fuel delivery cutout. Its clearly audible and the driver can feel it, but some passengers dont even notice and the rider certainly doesn't feel it. Rider #3 same thing problem, except I tried turning lefts instead of rights. Rider 4 (me), turned of the cruise and problem went away.
I knew I was going to swap the tech/cruise under warranty so didn't think much about the issue (hoping the new tach firmware might fix it). I finally got around to the swapping the tach, but engine hesitation still existed yesterday. I was the only rider so not much try and error time. That and the wife is a good driver, but not so much for collecting empirical evidence for me. Yesterday I didnt mess with PnP bags; so even with just wedge, 3 hard tanks full, 3/4 tank of 93 oct gas, and 160lbs of human ballast it would do it.
Maybe the paddle wheel doesn't work well in tight corners?

Mine does the same thing when heavily loaded and I have the raptor 400. I didn't think much of it though since it gets back to speed pretty quick and my old boat did the same thing!

The previous owner also confirmed this one has done it since brand new.

I wonder if the paddle wheel is picking up some kind of turbulence?

I ride on Trinity river, so there's no turning with speed control. Gonna have to try it out first trip other than Trinity.
