So the underwater lights that come from malibu (oem) are not very good. I am ordering a t23 and was going to have them put in, would it be better to
a. order them with the boat and switch them out later?
b. have the dealer put in a better underwater light vs ordering with boat?

The 2016 and newer boats have brighter lights than the 2015. I owned a 2015 and now a 2016 and the 2016 is much brighter. I still wouldn't mind them brighter but just worth pointing out. I attached a couple pictures one from the Christmas boat parade on Lake Conroe, TX which has fairly low visibility water and one from Lake Ouachita which is very clear. Hope that helps pictures really aren't a great way to show the brightness.

My 2015 was wired to the interior lights which was very annoying. My 2016 has a separate switch for the swim lights. Don't know if they are all that way but it has a labeled switch on the dash so I assume so.

I wouldn’t pay for the OEM ones, anyways the OEM ones come wired to the same switch as the nav lights. I would just buy a really nice set of underwater lights and install them myself or have the dealer

I just ran a separate wire for the swim lights on my 15... I have the Malibu OEM swim pad lights in my garage; just got to get them installed... I will connect them to the interior switch.

Just remember you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on them. It all depends on your lake or river water on how well they work. Check out pluglight.com. I got the drain plug light and dagons for the rear transom.
