Anyone out there recommend a decent quadcopter or drone that is waterproof and case be used safely over the water for wakeboarding and general shots around the boat etc?
I see a few out there but looks like a minefield chosing one that is waterproof, safe to use and protect a go pro and also with a decent battery life and screen or app linking back to a phone so you can see what you are actually recording?
I've seen a few overhead shots on the forum so assume a few of you guys/ girls out there have them and are getting great results!

All ideas and comments would be most welcome from all you experts out there!

Cheers!

We have a DJ Phantom FC40, they can be bought with spare batteries and the prop guards for under 500 ... don't think you will find one water proof however. Learn to fly it, it has built in GPS home. Just don't set the home on the boat in the water, because if you move and it has to fly back home, it will ... right in the water haha. It will carry a go pro with an adapter but as far as I know, there's no POV with go pro, just record to the card (no streaming back to a phon / iPad). The transmitter range is about 1100', POV camera wifi to phone about 400' (extendable with an antenna and battery).

GPS / ATT (attitude) mode works great for beginners. Just make sure you don't accidently flip the transmitter levers like we did during flight and loose the thing over water! I got spun around looking at the falling surfer and lost it in the sun looking back. We were lucky enough to figure it out quickly enough to find the drone close by still hovering close to a tree line. Yes, it will fly back home so long as there arent buildings or trees in the direct line of path (it goes back up some before going home thankfully).

Waterproof probably isn't a realistic possibility, water resistant is but the price jump is enormous...thousands. My buddy has a DJ Phantom as well with stabilization with the autopilot option to fly it back to you. Pics and video are amazing from the DJ Phantom. Funny story, there's a cliff side restaurant at the lake. We had the drone with us and we had friends up at the restaurant. We were hungry and told our friend at the restaurant to order us chicken strips and onion rings. We fly the drone back and forth until all the food could be flown by the drone to us. Pretty handy.

A set of diy floats might be possible and good insurance.

Ahh, there is a very reasonable waterproof quad now: http://www.aquacopters.com

Very clever idea!
I did come across the aqua copters one but wasn't sure if they were allowing orders a while back.
Just early thoughts for now but I think they make for great pics and vids

DJI is the best but would not let it go anywhere near water, you can check out air dog for full autononamis water prof quad. there are some other build you own water proof frames but I think for RTF im not sure if there is anything of high quality available yet
