I got the standard motor, and I thought I read that 89 octane was the recommended octane for that motor? So I can run 87 octane with 10% ethanol?

I run 87 with and with out ethanol and I can't see any difference in performance.

Regular on the 335. HEB has it for 3.17/gallon right now in my area.

I have been running regular without any trouble. I have heard that gas without ethanol is much better because ethanol attracts water(IDK).

:ugeek: Well, don't shoot the messanger, but I went and looked it up in the Indmar manual. In my manual, look at page "X" (roman numeral) and it quite clear that the standard motor needs 89 and the larger motor needs 91.

Still don't belive me, here look at 2.1

I always run the highest octane I can find, when you really sit down and add it up, an extra .10 cent per gallon is only 5$ if your tank is completely empty. That on top of filling up costing 100-150$ it's A small amount to pay for a little extra octane. I also add Lucas fuel conditioner every tank and sta-bil in the winter, there is non ethanol fuel all over Texas, but I have run both and not noticed a difference

Check this vid out on the water and ethanol. http://youtu.be/YeCyFxoWPpo
I'm thinking this is why new cars throw codes if the gas cap isn't sealing. Non-vent system would prevent the water from forming. Someone chime in if I'm wrong on this.

I run the stabil for ethanol treatment on fill-ups.

@ ga_boater - Are you using the marina gas? I noticed this weekend when we had to refill because we left it on the boat lift @ the lake that Victoria Marina had 90 octane without ethanol...drawback $1 more per gallon! :(

I always fuel up off the lake. I'm not like "you" rich guys that can afford fueling up on the water all summer. And I get the whole Ethanol fears, but I'm not concerned much with that. If the use of ethanol in a boat was that bad, then boat manufactures would at the least, print a warning that "the use of ethanol may or may not cause harm to your motor". Or something like that. But they don't. They only in print that the recommended use of 89 octanes permitted for this motor.
So sure, you can run 87, and not see any issues. You can also eat a big mac for every meal, and feel fine. But over time what will happen to the heads of your motor, and your fat Gut 
Oh, and I just had taco bell for lunch, so perhaps I’m a hypocrite.
