A20 with 335 Tranny whine?

I test drove a 2011 A20 that had a distinct whine while underway. I demoed a 2013 that did not have the noise, and I have never heard a whine on a Vdrive or Idrive. Additionally the boat seemed much louder than the 2013. Has anyone known had an issue on the 2011's? Thanks!

Mine is a 2010 and it has a whine in reverse but not forward, never had a single issue from the trans or vdrive in 165 hours, I think it's just the way the gears mesh up, my fluid has always been clean, I service it myself. Not too worried

What prop did they have? I think certain props make a little noise

My 2012 has a "supercharger" whine in forward, never had any issues though and just changed the tranny fluid.

I think amsugg may be right; as I have noticed its not as bad in AJ's boat and he has a 5 blade prop (2011).

Mine has done it in reverse since new and I have had the 1235, 1615 and TZX-5 OJ and it does it with all 3 props, it's just a gear noise, won't hurt anything, mine sounds like an old Pete Jackson gear drive from back in the hot rod days.

Yea my old malibu whined in reverse but certainly not in drive. I passed on the boat because of the noise, even with the smoking deal I negotiated... I may have to just go new if I want to not worry.
