Walter is absolutely right, what matters is what's comfortable with you. Another thing to consider us your weight. A heavier person will sink the board more and need to go faster to not feel like they are just dragging in the water, compared to a lighter person who can go slower with the same drag.

Here's something else you can do besides wakesurfing if you're nursing an injury. My buddy and I started doing this a lot after I tweaked my knee mid season. It's just lip transfers over the spray on a ronix karver at 11' around 15 mph, but as you can tell from my face it's pretty damn fun

70ft at 21.6 seems to be the best for me. Others ride 22.4 at 80ft but I seem to get so much line tension at that speed.

I like 21.4-21.6 @83', 383 hammerhead, wedge down, stock ballast full, front pnp full, rear 750's 3/4 full with about 6-8 people in the boat, got it dialed in, buddy's ride same weight but 22.4 @ 75'

21.4 at over 80' seems a little slow but I'm just speaking generally since I haven't tried that setup yet. Also, your buddies riding faster with a shorter rope length sounds backwards. If you speed up the boat you generally want to lengthen the line, depending on where you hit the wake of course.

Unless his speedo is out of calibration a few mph, mine was showing 22 at a GPS 25 when I got my boat

X2 unless everyone has calibrated their speedo's with GPS, this thread is almost useless. My speedo was showing 23.0 mph when GPS was at 25.2 straight from the factory. It would be nice if during the water test they would spend 1 minute to calibrate it for the new owner
