So I have been kicking around idea of trading the axis for a 2013 wakesetter LSV with surf gate my local dealer has some that they loan out to Ymca for the summer then bring them back in go over them and resale them. I can get I one for the same price as a 2014 a22 but wakesetter has 150 hr what should I do axis or wakesetter

drive it. They are great boats, some say the wakeboarding wake is the best of all axis/malibu's. I love that boat, it drives very similar to the A22, you will notice how low you sit in the cockpit... no big deal, I actually like it like that, and the bimini tower is nice but a lot more difficult to attach and remove lines. There is no good way to add more bow weight other than lead, that bow tank is only 250-300 lbs and you realistically need more like 800-1000, so 400-700 lead is the way to do it, but that is a lot to tow around, and there is not a lot of space up there to hide it. The A22 is set up way better for wakeboarding and surfing because of all that area in the bow to put lead or fill ballast.

The LSV will need more weight than the A22, but not by much. The surf wave is probably better but I have no experience on Axis waves, just LSV waves and they are fantastic.

I think a used 150 hour LSV with surf gate for the same price as a new 2014 A22..... I would go with the A22, but I would go with the A22 over a brand new 2014 LSV for the same price because I love my wake and boat so much for wakeboarding, I couldn't go "backwards" into a LSV. However, you are not me, and I think 99.9% of all people should go for the low hour, still under warranty, LSV for sure, as long as it was maintained well and kept up nicely and you still have a warranty.

I would demo one of those LSV boats. I would ask them to make sure that the boat has some PnP in the rear and maybe bring 500lbs for the nose of the boat. Then check out the surf wake. Then drop that 500lb into the walkway and checkout the wakeboard wake. I think you will be happy with the 23 wake. I agree it is harder to get hidden weight in the nose and to keep it out of the way lead under the seats will work but I also hate to drag that around all day.. I just drop a bag in the nose and I don't worry about it..

Also play around with the digital dash, the Bluetooth, power everything. The throttle response on the Malibu boats is great. That is one big plus for me and my wife. She likes to drive with the responsive throttle. I love the 23 and if they only use it for a few events the boat should be fine at 150hrs. I know some promo boats that have put on 600+ hours before it was flipped. I have probably never gone over 100 hrs on any that I have had.

They just released news on the new 23 LSV so maybe talk to them about the demo boats and any remaining 23s they have on the lot.

So went to my Malibu dealer on Saturday at lake Lanier in ga and had a blast. They have there own 2.0 cable and where having a contest which was cool to watch. Then they let me and my friends take the wakesetter LSV out for the day it had all the pnp bags already. This thing with surf gate was a surfing machine. We also liked all the room it had. Everything worked great we had a blast. And even if they can't get the numbers wright with are trade and monthly payment being in a 2012 Axis A22 with poor gate is not a bad place to be at all

Another thing to think about is the malivue. In my opinion it is crap. The 3 dash screens do not even match, the screen material is all different looking and the chrome bezels around them are different as well. they are touch screens and hard button screens, and using them is terrible for a new person or someone who will be driving you but only sometimes. You have to pre set up everything for them and hope it works because theres no way they will be able to trouble shoot it on the fly, you will find yourself unstrapping to hop in boat to make the adjustments.

I am a rocker switch fan and simple is better in my opinion. I have spent probably 12 hours using those screens now and I am not impressed... also, they are hard to see in sunlight, any sunlight, especially direct sunlight... sunglasses on? forget about it, very tough. Power wedge is terrible, the display is so confusing, 0% 200% 100%... even to guys over on the malibu crew. If your presets are all dialed and working, it is a great system and the adjustabliity of the wedge is great, it is just another integrated system on hydraulics that can malfunction.

I don't even want to think about when it goes out of warranty, or if the supplier goes out of business. I hear in 2015 malibu is ditching that system to go another route.

Mostly I have heard not to many problems with malivue but when there is one, it gets expensive and ruins a day on the water.

Great boat though, and yes, being stuck in a 2014 a22 with poor gate is a great place to be. I have seen the surf gate switch, right next to the speed control switch, simple simple system.
